PURPOSELY BUILT FOR PASSIONATE BOATERS
Current and recent projects from Blue Crescent Wooden Boats:
Badger-Armadillo -- A 19-foot lapstrake pulling boat, designed by Iain Oughtred and based on the venerable Thames River skiff. Long lines and a stable beam, combined with two sliding-seat rowing stations, make for an exciting glide across the lake. A 16-foot version is also available for those who have limited storage or mooring space.
The Long Point -- A Tom Hill-designed center console outboard. It’s a stout 16-foot lapstrake fishing skiff with a high sheer and open design. This boat is fine enough to creep into the marsh for a shot at the elusive Muskie, and tough enough to take a pounding when the waves pick up on your way back to the landing.
Caledonia -- A sloop-rigged double-ended sailboat built as a camp cruiser.
Artic Tern -- A remodeled and refinished touring kayak.
A mill pond rowing skiff -- This is a fancied up version of Joe Yucha's Beven Skiff. It's a very simple well-designed skiff, nicely suited for a liesurly row on ponds and protected waters.
This one was built for exploring the scenery of the mill pond adjacent to the Blue Crescent Wooden Boat shop in Lake Mills, Wis. We don't usually stick to the pond, though. A quick row through the channel to Rock Lake opens the possibilities for fishing, sailing, or just poking around the lake.
A simple sailing rig can be added, and the shop is considering the addition of a small electric motor tucked in a cleverly concealed well.
